Where I Stand

I see my landscape rich in layers.

Nature's terrain is layered with manmade structures and directions. Space is divided and categorized. It takes on new shapes that didn’t exist before that are physical and social.

Sense of place, sense of home is a persistent character that colours our view of the world. Our markings, our presence, our desires peep out like little mushrooms in the landscape. Objects like potted plants, fences and candied treats punctuate my view and my landscapes. Painting these landscapes, I cannot ignore our need and struggle to find our home in this world.

These layers grow as time moves on. These landscapes are patchworks of impressions and recollections of where we live.
